Rubber ducky, you're the one

Tux, our sweet, sensitive, neurotic little boy, has a lot of toys. He has a rope. He has numerous annoying rubber squeaky things. He has a chewy barbell that he loves. But his absolute favorite toy is a tiny yellow rubber ducky.

He had a rubber ducky a couple of years ago, but it got lost or damaged beyond repair. Recently, someone gave Dillon a bath kit that had a little rubber ducky in it. Tux saw that duck and thought it was his. There was no convincing him otherwise. He adopted it.

Tux is very careful with his ducky. He carries it around gently in his mouth. It is actually so small, that sometimes, you can't tell he has it in his mouth till he spits it out on the floor. He carefully tosses the duck in the air and romps around playing with it for hours!

All this hurricane coverage about pets has made me especially appreciative of my sweet boy. Today, in a moment of nostalgia, I went by a store that sold these ducks, and bought eight of them. They are all dressed like little pirates, but Tux loves pirate ducks just as well as regular ones! He is in dog heaven.

It makes me think of Sesame Street, when Ernie sings to his rubber ducky. Tux is like that. I imagine, if he had a voice, he would sing this song to his rubber ducky.

Um, you can borrow it for a second, but I'm gonna need that right back, okay?

If I remember correctly, that is the same rubber ducky he swiped from your sweet, darling niece? hmmmm??

Not that she cared. She'd seen the remote control at that point and moved on.

I do love Tux though. I think he needs an orange tabby friend named Willie.

Amanda,
Our attempts at getting our dog to understand the toys he sees aren't his haven't worked.
Pointing to my wife's belly and saying "Baayyybbeee" doesn't seem to help either since he thinks HE's the baby.
Lord willing, he'll be in for a shock soon.
Hope everything goes well with y'all's delivery.

That's too cute. Penny's very picky about her toys. She had an asparagus guy that she loved, but ultimately ended up destroying. In preparation for the inevitable, we bought her a replacement squeaky bone so she could break it in before Sparga (the German word for asparagus) Man was gone. She wanted nothing to do with it--only the veggie would do.

yes, it is the one he took from Bella!

he adores his rubber ducky. isn't that funny how they get attached to one specific toy? at least it isn't the crotch lamb anymore...

I guess dogs are alot like kids that way.

Remember Grandma's dog Pebbles? How she would hump her stuffed bunny like she was filming for doggie porn?

crotch lamb? that is something sick and demented, just what i would expect from Nac. :)

what are the 8 duckies for? in preparation of him losing/mutilating his newest Rubber Ducky?

when we first got tux, his "previous owner" gave him a stuffed lamb that he was to "remember her by."

she was a weird lady, and i always thought that was creepy, and we have since removed it from his ownership.

oezwry!

but that doesn't explain why it is a "crotch" lamb.

amanda! i totally laughed out loud when i read that! i am going to start using it!

mmmmkay. tux's "foster mom" somehow got her scent all over that lamb so that he would remember her. daniel and i always joked that she probably drove over to the house with it tucked between her legs. that is completely disgusting and inappropriate, and i am sorry i ever said CROTCH LAMB on my site. except that now there is a cool new insult for me to use! :)

I wished I loved are dog as much as you love yours but if I had a gun are's would have been dead 2 days ago... he keeps chewing the phone wires off the side of the house so that I have no blogging connection and this is NOT the first time! TICKED! Maybe he needs some rubber duckies.
