Things that make you go "hmmmm...."
Kids say the darndest things. (Really, I hate that phrase. What is darndest???)
At school the other day, I made a comment to my Pre-K class about when they grow up and get married. They all think this is HILARIOUS, because, is anything grosser than getting married????
In response, one of my little girls giggled and said "I am going to marry so-and-so."
A boy responded with "UM, a girl cannot marry another girl!"
There was silence in the room for about half a second. The quietest child in my class, she never speaks out or draws attention to herself, said in a loud voice:
"Yeah-huh! That is called being a gaywad!"
OH.
We changed the subject. I ranted about four-year-olds watching too much television and then we moved on with our day. Is this funny, or sad, or can it be both?

Can it be hilariously sad? Gaywad. Yes, far too much exposure to the adult world, but quite funny that's the "word" they chose to define gay marriage.
So perhaps the two women would then wear wadding dresses?
It's sad that 4 year olds know about gay marriages, and it's interesting that they already have an "opinion" about it, mainly their parents' opinion.
But, it's funny that it takes a controversial topic to bring a quiet girl into the conversation.
Good job changing the subject and not peeing your pants laughing.
that totally breaks my heart. i'm sad that they know so much already about the "adult world."
For some reason, I think alot of people don't GET IT that what goes in kids' heads will come out their mouths...whether accurately or not.
most things kids say are not inaccurate. they are probably just things their parents didn't think they would repeat.
i have experienced the tape-recorder-like minds of kids many times!
